Indoor spaces benefit from regular spiritual cleansing in addition to their regular physical cleaning rituals. This is because not all dirt is physical and visible. Science has now identified millions of different bacteria and viruses that can inhabit space. Once upon a time these invisible threats may have been referred to as 'bad spirits.' Most of us don't have access to the kind of technology needed to identify such threats in our homes. But we all have access to our spiritual senses. We can often feel the 'vibe' of a room. Emotions and other experiences left over from people and animals, living or dead can leave an energetic imprint on a space. I just read a comment by a reader accusing me of teaching black majick. I have no idea where anyone could get such an idea from my writing. I clearly affirm my positive intent all the way through my work. I understand from working in this field for a long time that misunderstandings of such work are common. Let me make it clear: I work from love and only love. I work with the life affirming energy of the universe. Only evil people with harmful intent are capable of practising black magic. Majick is a neutral energy, like electricity. It is used for good or evil depending on the person using it. If anyone believes my work to be evil, it is because they haven't actually read it. I could write the same articles from a more practical cognitive behavioural therapy angle, but my readers have more fun with ritual and majick. So I will not be silenced. Modern cities can separate people from nature. It is in our nature to be in nature. Although we have built up civilisations to protect us from the more destructive side of the elements, we are still affected by their power. Like people and planets, crystals are electromagnetic devices that can accumulate debris on physical and energetic levels. The wisdom and power available from crystal realms can come through clear and strong when crystals are handled with a little regular care. The three things to consider when caring for crystals are, cleaning, storage and communion. This article will introduce cleaning and storage, while communion will be introduced in another article. There are many ways to clean crystals. It doesn't usually matter which method is used except in the case of salty water soluble crystals such as selenite and Himalayan salt. Use dry cleaning methods if you feel any doubt. Hold them in your hand and get a feel for each crystal and how it might best be cleaned. Like bright fabric, brightly coloured crystals are prone to fading in the sun, so limit exposure to avoid over-stripping them.
